Independent Living Services
Transitional Living
The Transitional Living Program of Alabama MENTOR is designed to provide older youth with multiple opportunities to learn and practice independent living skills within a supportive family home environment. The flexibility of the service model allows for decreasing levels of supervision and increased levels of responsibility as a youth progresses toward his or her individually defined goals.
Core Services include Medication Monitoring and Administration, Basic Living Skills Training, Transportation, Extra-curricular Activities, Allowance, Provisions for Special Needs and Occasions, Mental Health Consultation, Contact with Therapists, Supportive Services to the Family/Referral to Other Services, and Crisis Intervention.
Mothers & Infants
The Mothers & Infants Program, of Alabama MENTOR, is designed for young mothers who are pregnant or post-partum, to remain with their children in a specialized foster home setting.
The mother may require individual, family and/or group therapy to address issues of abuse, neglect, depression, anxiety, and anger management. The mother may need assistance in accessing pre-and post-natal care and counseling, reproductive health services, and individually appropriate entitlement programs for young mothers and fathers, including WIC, food stamps and community-based parenting classes, etc. The mother may also need one-on-one parent training and coaching, education/employment planning, and basic living skills training.
